Coach Grellman has Gaffney trending in the right direction after qualifying 5 for the boys state tournament and 2 for the girls state tournament in 2023. The Hannon sisters lead the way on the girls side … Claira won the 120 lb. title and Anna was 4th as a freshman. Don’t be surprised to see both standing on top of the podium in 2024. On the boys side Aaron Wilburn came up just short of an individual title - taking 2nd at 113 as a sophomore. He returns ready to claim the top step in 2024. Gaffney also return State Qualifiers Mike Mabry and Drew Ellis … both will be hunting a spot on the podium as well. Coach Grellman also has a few others that will look to make some noise in 2024. Keep an eye on Cason Wiggins, Tyler Moore, and Darzel Cumberlander as well as freshmen Lucas Bedenbaugh (113), Brody Price (126), and Jamir Wroten (170). Expect Gaffney to continue to get better … few seniors and a solid core that has some quality experience will only help Gaffney progress in 2024. - SEWrestle
