The Indians continue to build … Coach Hudson has made qualifying for the state tournament, making the podium and winning titles an expectation. This year is no different. Gilbert returns State Champion Colton Travis and State Runner-up Hayden Schroeder … both seniors will lead the way. State Qualifiers Devin Lirgg, JJ Brentlinger, and Brenden Boatwright will determine whether Gilbert is in the conversation for a shot at the top step. But ultimately it will come down to returners Shane Wise, Landen Bastian, Kelvin Blackwell as well as Charlie Wingard and Dylan Caulder in determining how high the Indians will climb. West-Oak and BHP currently hold the top spots in 3A, but Gilbert is knocking on the door and with 8 or more State Qualifiers they could have something to say in February. Keep an eye on freshmen Jack Turner and Talan Bonds … both could make some noise this season as well. - SEWrestle
