Coach Briggs takes over an Oak Mountain program that was dominant for many years, but had just 2 state qualifiers a year ago. Coach Briggs has a very young team and one that may have their ups and downs this year, but should continue to get better and better throughout the season. The Eagles will turn to a few young hammers to lead the way in 2024. Senior Jesse Palmer returns as do sophomores Quinn Ivey, Coleman Sovine, and James Franklin, but keep an eye on a pair of freshmen. Trey Denny qualified for the state tournament a year ago as an 8th grader and he is joined by Jameson Thomas. Thomas and Denny both have a ton of experience despite being freshmen and will be solid for the Eagles down low. Another wrestler to watch is James Franklin … he could have a very good season. The Eagles will be solid from 106-132, but will rely on some new faces up top in 2024. - SEWrestle
