Coach Loeffler returns a solid group and has an influx of freshmen … that is a recipe for a team that will certainly improve on their 21st finish at last year’s traditional state tournament and could make some noise. State Runner-up Damen Pullen is the anchor and this team has a nice mix of upperclassmen and some new faces. Pullen will look to fellow State qualifiers Gavin Patterson and Mateo Baldwin … Patterson and Baldwin will look to take that next step and make the podium (Pullen should be amongst the favorites to claim an individual title after taking 2nd last year). The key for the team as a whole will be the continued development of Larson Pilant who won region 8 and then lost two close matches in the sectional tournament, as well as Alex Lockhart, Derek Corbin, Mason Maxim, Bond Christie, Sam Iroh, and Donovan Cook. Don’t be surprised to see as many as 7 Dragons punch their ticket to the big dance. Collierville will also have a solid group of freshman that should step in and make some noise. Jonah Holcomb, Weston Neutz, Drew Corbin and Devin Corbin have experience and will look to establish themselves in the lineup from the outset. - SEWrestle
