Levi Andrews looks for title #4

Avery County’s Levi Andrews looks to make history and become a 4x state champion this year. He would also become the heaviest 4x champion in our state’s history. If last season was any indication of how this year will go Levi will not be challenged in 1A competition.

Is Kage Williams the best wrestler in 1A?

Yes, 1A has a potential 4x champion in Levi Andrews. It also has potential 3x champion, Ethan Shell. But right now Kage Williams could be the best wrestler of any weight in 1A. His freshman campaign was legendary. I can’t wait to watch the sequel. The kid is unreal.

Ethan Shell is the top dog in Dogtown

I continue to be impressed by Ethan and his progression. He has put on a show for the last 3 seasons and this year will look to be more of the same. There is little doubt he walks away with his third state title.

How much will Avery win by?

If you’re asking yourself, who will win 1A in 2022? You’re asking the wrong question. You should be asking how much Avery will win by this year. They are loaded, return a bunch of team points and are going to bring in some talented newcomers.

Robbinsville has 5 State Champions returning

It is wild to think that Robbinsville has 5 state champs on their roster and they aren’t the favorite to win a team title. Ansley Fink (girls state champion), Kyle Fink, Jayden Nowell, Ben Wachacha, and Kage Williams are all back and will be right in the thick of things to repeat.

Mt. Airy is the team that no one is talking about but they should be

They return 2 state champions in Connor Medvar and Franklin Bennett and a handful of other top tier guys. I think because of how far ahead Avery and Robbinsville are plus the potential of Uwharrie Charter and Rosewood no one is really talking about Mt. Airy. To me the are the most interesting 1A team this year because of the potential they have to move up in team scores.
